Open and Go! It's not a complicated new system to learn.
The innovative Summit System: a new playlist every seven days, grouping with four playlists into a cohesive collection of work. The playlist is a familiar metaphor for many students and provides the scaffold for the student to develop their writing habit. Think, Write, Revise and Polish.
I believe myself that a good writer doesn’t really need to be told anything except to keep at it.
As students gain mastery over different writing concepts, they are introduced to new concepts to keep the work fun and exciting.
Built-in goal-setting encourages independent learning.
Every new playlist at Summit Writing Academy starts with the student setting their goals for the next seven days. Which days, specifically, will they work on their writing? What time of day, and for how long? Studies have shown that setting specific goals in this fashion leads to more time on task.
Feedback on Writing.
An important piece of further developing a writing habit is sharing and receiving feedback, not only from Summit instructors, but from their peers as well. In our safe and welcoming forums, students love sharing and commenting on each other's writing. As a result of this, we often see students developing new friendships over the shared developing interest in writing.
One-click to Work Samples.
At the simple click of a button you have access to your student's most recent writing. You can export in as a PDF or in Microsoft Word .docx format. No more scrambling to find the most recent writing when you're meeting with your Educational Specialist, or print it out and post in on the fridge! Celebrate your student's writing accomplishments!
